Overview
What is 3D GO AR/VR?
3D GO AR/VR helps Shopify merchants show interactive 3D models and AR previews on product pages. Customers can rotate a model, view it in their space on mobile, and understand the product before they buy.
How it works
The basic flow
The app stores your 3D assets and product mapping rules. The Shopify theme app extension then reads the active mapping and displays the right 3D/AR experience on the storefront.
Quick start
Set up in a few steps
- Install and authorize 3D GO AR/VR for your Shopify store.
- Open the dashboard and upload a supported 3D model.
- Go to Product Mapping and select the Shopify product.
- Choose the 3D model and enable 3D Model, AR View, or both.
- Enable the app extension from Online Store - Themes - Customize.
- Save your theme and test the product page on desktop and mobile.
Dashboard
Main app pages
The app dashboard is organized around the daily tasks a merchant needs after installation. Use each page for a specific part of the 3D/AR workflow.
Assets
Uploading models
Use the 3D Assets page to upload and manage product models. Keep files optimized so storefront pages load quickly.
- Use .glb for web 3D and Android AR.
- Use .usdz when you need the best iOS AR support.
- Use clear file names, such as chair-black.glb.
- Preview each model before mapping it to a live product.
Storefront
Adding models to product pages
Enable the theme extension in Shopify so mapped models appear to customers.
- Go to Online Store - Themes.
- Click Customize on the active theme.
- Open the relevant product template.
- Click Add App Block or App Embed.
- Select 3D GO AR/VR.
- Enable the extension and save the theme.
Settings
Customize storefront controls
The Settings page lets you adjust the customer-facing AR button and scanner layout. Merchants can manage button labels, colors, border radius, height, width, and display behavior without changing code.
Features
What merchants can manage
3D GO AR/VR is built so merchants can manage the full storefront experience without custom theme development.
Show a rotatable product model inside the product media area so customers can inspect shape, scale, and details.
On supported phones, customers can open the selected model in AR and view it in their real space.
Desktop shoppers can scan a centered QR modal to continue the AR experience on their mobile device.
Select countries or states/provinces where the mapped 3D/AR experience should not appear.
If needed, hide the full product in selected restricted locations instead of hiding only the 3D/AR model.
Control button colors, radius, sizing, text, and scanner messaging from the app settings page.
Display
Viewer and display options
- 3D Model: shows a rotatable product model on the product page.
- AR View: lets mobile customers open the model in their physical space.
- Location Restrictions: hides the model or full product in selected locations.
- Scanner Modal: desktop customers can scan a QR code to continue on mobile.
Quality
Best practices
- Compress models before upload to improve loading speed.
- Use realistic scale so AR placement feels accurate.
- Test on iPhone and Android if AR is important for your store.
- Keep the AR button label short and action-focused.
- Use restrictions only when the product or model should not appear in a location.
